 ORIGENES DE LA ACTUAL GUERRA DE GAZA (26FEB24)

Las cosas nunca pasan porque si, siempre hay uno o más antecedentes que desembocan en una reacción en cadena.

La actual confrontación palestino israelí no es por supuesto una excepción. Sin ser por supuesto la única, hace casi dos años, concretamente el 15 de agosto de 2022, sonaban las alarmas antiaéreas en la ciudad más próxima a Gaza, Ashkelon, enseguida la secundaron otras ciudades del centro y sur de Israel, incluso en Tel Aviv, el motivo era el inminente ataque con cohetes desde la Franja de Gaza, que realizaría la Yihad Islámica Palestina, organización considerada terrorista por Israel y su aliado Estados Unidos.

La alerta tenía su fundamento y unos 1200 cohetes fueron lanzados, aunque muchos no llegaron siquiera a tocar tierra israelita e incluso uno de ellos cayo en el Campamento de Refugiados Palestino de Jalabiya, resultando siete personas muertas, de las que 4 eran niños. Unos 200 fueron neutralizados por las baterías antiaéreas (Iron Dome o Cúpula de Hierro), gran parte impactaron en terrenos descampados sin causar víctimas.

Enseguida tanto Fatah como Hamas, se desvincularon del ataque con los cohetes, aunque Hamas, no dudo de realizar una protesta formal, contra Israel, por la llamada Operación Amanecer, que después cambio su nombre, por Operación Alba, en este ataque del ejército israelí en Gaza, murieron 44 palestinos, entre los que se encontraba el Deputy Commander de la Yihad Islámica, Taycer Jabari.

Un portavoz del ejército israelí había manifestado que, en la Operación, se cuidaron de evitar efectos colaterales y que los objetivos alcanzados eran integrantes de escuadrones de lanzamiento, plantas de ensamblaje de cohetes, morteros y municiones de la Yihad.

Egipto medió para conseguir el alto al fuego, aunque las negociaciones no fueron fáciles, por las exigencias de la Yihad, que exigía la puesta en libertad de dos integrantes de su Organización, presos en las cárceles de Israel, Bassan al Saadi y Khalil Awawdeh, el segundo de ellos se encontraba en huelga de hambre.

Mientras los vaivenes políticos en Israel no eran una balsa de aceite, con los problemas entre Likud y Blanco Azul, los dos partidos mayoritarios, por lo que abrió la puerta de nuevo a Benjamín Netanyahu, que en ese momento tenía que rendir cuentas a la justicia por escándalos de corrupción.

Things never just happen, there is always one or more antecedents that lead to a chain reaction.

The current Palestinian-Israeli confrontation is of course no exception. Without being of course the only one, almost two years ago, on August 15, 2022, air raid alarms went off in the city closest to Gaza, Ashkelon, and were immediately followed by other cities in central and southern Israel, including Tel Aviv, because of an imminent rocket attack from the Gaza Strip by Palestinian Islamic Jihad, an organization considered terrorist by Israel and its ally the United States.

The alert was well-founded and some 1200 rockets were launched, although many did not even touch Israeli soil and one of them even fell on the Palestinian refugee camp of Jalabiya, resulting in seven people dead, 4 of whom were children. Some 200 were neutralized by the anti-aircraft batteries (Iron Dome), most of them hit in open fields without causing any casualties.

Both Fatah and Hamas immediately disassociated themselves from the rocket attack, although Hamas did not hesitate to make a formal protest against Israel for the so-called Operation Dawn, which later changed its name to Operation Dawn. In this attack by the Israeli army in Gaza, 44 Palestinians were killed, among them the Deputy Commander of Islamic Jihad, Taycer Jabari.

An Israeli army spokesman had stated that, in the Operation, care was taken to avoid collateral effects and that the targets hit were members of launching squads, rocket assembly plants, mortars and Jihad ammunition.

Egypt was able to achieve a cease-fire, although the negotiations were not easy, due to the demands of Jihad, which demanded the release of two members of its organization, Bassan al Saadi and Khalil Awawdeh, the latter of whom was on hunger strike, from Israeli prisons.

While the political ups and downs in Israel were not a raft of oil, with the problems between Likud and Blue White, the two major parties, so it opened the door again to Benjamin Netanyahu, who at that time had to be accountable to justice for corruption scandals.
