CURIOSIDADES DEL EJÉRCITO DE ITALIA// CURIOSITIES OF THE ITALIAN ARMY

 

        El ejército de Italia está considerado entre los top 10 del mundo, no en cuanto al número de efectivos pero sí de material. Es un ejército moderno y preparado con

gran proyección internacional.

El 3 de septiembre de 1999, el Consejo de ministros del Gobierno de Italiano, acordó la supresión del Servicio Militar Obligatorio, que se fue haciendo escalonadamente hasta que entró en vigor definitivamente en el año 2005.

En tanto, planes de estudio y sistemas de incorporación se fueron adaptando a la nueva situación para modernizar las Fuerzas Armadas italianas, formadas por los Ejércitos de Tierra, Mar y Aire y en las que se encuentran encuadrados los Carabinieri, una fuerza policial, con estructura y características militares, al estilo de la guardia civil española o la gendarmería francesa.

El ejercito italiano cuenta con unos 350.000 efectivos de los que cerca de 10.000 estan desplegados en el exterior del país.

Italia participa de forma activa en las siguientes misiones:

EUFOR en Bosnia. UNMIK en Sudán. UNFICYP en Chipre. UNIFIL en el Líbano. UNMOGIP en la frontera entre la India y Pakistán. UNTSO en Israel. MINURSO en el Sahara Occidental, MFO en Egipto. UNMIK en Kosovo e ISAF en Afganistán.

Llegó a contar de forma simultánea con bases en Afganistán, Albania, Yibuti, Emiratos Árabes Unidos, Malta, Kosovo, Kuwait y Libia.

Los requisitos principales para ingresar en las FAS italianas son tener entre

18 y 28 años, salvo los que posean titulación universitaria superior, en los que se le amplía hasta los 32 años la edad máxima. Carecer de antecedentes penales y no haber estado privado de libertad por pena o condena judicial. No haber participado en el Servicio Civil como objetor militar. No haber tenido relación permanente o temporal (3 meses o más) en el último año anterior a la convocatoria al estamento militar en el que se va a presentar. Tener la ciudadanía italiana, esta última clausula quedó modificada por sentencia del tribunal constitucional, en el sentido de que, para casi un millar de puestos, queda abierto el ingreso a extranjeros, siempre y cuando tengan reconocida oficialmente la residencia en Italia.

Las solicitudes de los aspirantes estan abiertas desde comienzo de año hasta las 14:00 horas del día 30 de junio, quienes no tengan en esa fecha la documentación exigida, deberán esperar al año siguiente, siempre y cuando cumplan los términos referentes a la edad.

Anécdota: En el ejército italiano, el empleo de subteniente puede, al igual que pasa en otros países, ser oficial o suboficial. En el caso del oficial (OF-1) puede ser el primer empleo por oposición con titulación universitaria o el último año

de la Academia de oficiales. En el del suboficial (OR-9) es el del máximo empleo de la escala, debe contar con un mínimo de 15 años de servicio. Las divisas de uno y otro son diferentes, el OF 1 es una estrella de cinco puntas. El OR 9 además de la estrella de cinco puntas, lleva por debajo tres galones, ambas cosas con ribete en su entorno de color rojo.

Tiene peculiaridades propias, por ejemplo, el relevo de determinados puestos es negociado por consenso entre el que se va con respeto al que llega nuevo, siempre que los candidatos reúnan las condiciones exigidas para la tarea a realizar y reciba el visto bueno del mando del que depende.

Está considerado un ejército vanguardista contando entre otros con el siguiente material en el Ejército de Tierra, carros “Leopard”, “Centauro” y “Ariete”. Su Artillería tiene Piezas autopropulsadas PZH 2000 (obús autopropulsado de 155 mm), M-109 (de fabricación norteamericana, tuvo muchas actualizaciones, para adaptarse a los tiempos modernos), Lanzamisiles múltiple del sistema MLRS 270 (sus misiles pueden alcanzar los 500 kilómetros) FH70 (obús remolcado) del que algunas unidades, fueron cedidas por Italia a Ucrania.

La Armada posee en dotación: Portaaviones, Destructores, Fragatas y Corbetas, también tiene cobertura propia con Helicópteros y aviones de combate Harrier Av8 y un avión de fabricación totalmente nacional el P-180 Avanti.

Su Ejército del Aire, cuenta con modernos Eurofighter Typhoon tanto para adiestramiento, como para combate, posee aviones cisterna de reabastecimiento en vuelo del tipo KC767A.

Los Carabinieri están ligados al Ejército, pudiendo realizar funciones de Policía Militar, al estilo de la Guardia Civil española, la Gendarmería francesa y como estas fuerzas policiales, también despliega en misiones internacionales, encuadradas con el ejército.

Not have had a permanent or temporary relationship (3 months or more) in the last year prior to the call to the military establishment in which they are going to apply. To have Italian citizenship, this last clause was modified by a ruling of the Constitutional Court, in the sense that, for almost a thousand positions, entry is open to foreigners, as long as they have officially recognized residence in Italy.

Applications from applicants are open from the beginning of the year until 2:00 p.m. on June 30, those who do not have the required documentation on that date, must wait until the following year, as long as they meet the terms regarding age.

Anecdote: In the Italian army, the job of second lieutenant can, as in other countries, be an officer or non-commissioned officer. In the case of the official (OF-1) it can be the first job by competitive examination with a university degree or the last year of the Officers' Academy. In the case of non-commissioned officers (OR-9) it is the highest employment in the scale, they must have a minimum of 15 years of service. The currencies of one and the other are different, the OF 1 is a five-pointed star. The OR 9, in addition to the five-pointed star, has three chevrons underneath, both with red trim in their surroundings.

It has its own peculiarities, for example, the replacement of certain positions is negotiated by consensus between the one who leaves with respect to the one who arrives new, provided that the candidates meet the conditions required for the task to be carried out and receive the approval of the command to which they depend.

It is considered an avant-garde army with the following material in the Army, among others, "Leopard", "Centauro" and "Ariete" tanks. Its artillery has PZH 2000 self-propelled pieces (155 mm self-propelled howitzer), M-109 (American-made, it had many upgrades, to adapt to modern times), multiple missile launchers of the MLRS 270 system (its missiles can reach 500 kilometers) FH70 (towed howitzer) of which some units were ceded by Italy to Ukraine.

The Navy has in its endowment: aircraft carriers, destroyers, frigates and corvettes, it also has its own coverage with helicopters and Harrier Av8 fighter planes and a totally nationally manufactured aircraft the P-180 Avanti.

Its Air Force has modern Eurofighter Typhoons for both training and combat, it has KC767A type in-flight refueling tanker aircraft.

The Carabinieri are linked to the Army, being able to perform Military Police functions, in the style of the Spanish Civil Guard, the French Gendarmerie and like these police forces, they also deploy in international missions, framed with the army.
