(IV) CURSO DE BRIGADA PRIMERA PROMOCION SUBOFICIALES ACADEMIA//BRIGADE COURSE FIRST PROMOTION NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICERS ACADEMY

Two years later, the Brigade course established
by Order 362/08640/1987 (BOD 84) dated 6MAY1987 was established for the First
Promotion, however, this course would take a considerably longer time to take
effect. Thus, after a correspondence phase, we were summoned to an examination
at the Special Military School of Villaverde, where on January 27 and 28, 1988,
we had to carry out some physical and cultural tests, prior to carrying out a
phase of presence at that School.
All of us who passed the entrance exam to the
course, showed up on May 9 at the aforementioned Special Military School, where
we coincided with comrades from different arms, although for reasons of space,
batches were held. During the course we have carried out tasks inherent to the
new job, deepening the learning of computer science, physical training, ending
with some final tests per subject.
By Order 562/13078/88 (BOD 136) dated 15JUL1988, the list of all those who had been declared fit, in the course of promotion to brigade, of the twenty-three comrades presented,
were not fit, was published. However, the publication of this list did not become effective until the publication of Order 562/10732/90 (BOD 140) dated 18JUL1990.
Thirteen years had passed since the delivery of
the Academy's dispatches. During this time I had the opportunity to be
commissioned to France, where, chatting with non-commissioned officers trained
at the Military School of Saint Michel, they told me that they spent four years
as a sergeant and two as a first sergeant, in order to be a brigadier, and some
Italians, with specific training, left directly from their respective school,
with the job of brigadier. Entering it
as first corporals, only those who did not reach a certain level went through
the job of sergeant.
So significant was this promotion that some graphic media echoed those promoted in the respective locality.
Contrary to what the employment of first
sergeant meant, in that of brigade, it was a qualitative leap in the
vicissitudes and tasks to be carried out, although to relieve the lieutenants
we went on to perform some of the services carried out by them, and even in
cases, replace them in the tasks as was the suppression in their day for them
of that of commander of the security guard in many barracks.
Needless to say, there were other vicissitudes
of this promotion, which I am not going to discuss, since there were diligent
people, who have made the leap to the officer scale and some even reached
colonel, others took courses abroad and in Spanish universities, the last of
the regulated courses of this First Promotion,
was that of Senior Non-Commissioned Officer, which could perhaps be the
reason for the V and last installment. But his day has come.
