ROBERT BAER THE AUTHOR OF SEE NO EVIL (NO VEAS EL MAL)
la citada See No Devil o Sleeping with the Devil (Durmiendo con

ROBERT BAER
THE AUTHOR OF "SEE NO EVIL"
Some time ago an analyst recommended me a book, "See No Evil", I got it in Spanish under the title of "Soldado de la CIA" Ed. Critica SL Barcelona 2002, perhaps the publisher saw more possibilities of sale with this title. Reading it I couldn't help but admire the author, Robert Booker Baer, a Californian born in Los Angeles on July 11, 1952. He was not yet ten years old, when his parents divorced, but as his mother was wealthy, he was able to alleviate this disappointment by his hand, spending a long time in Europe, in France he lived through episodes such as the 1978 Revolution.
A fan of skiing, especially the Slalom
modality, he took his first steps in this sport, where he dreamed of achieving
great international achievements.
Later with his university preparation, he joined the CIA, as a field agent, being enrolled in the American Intelligence Agency from 1976 to 1997, he began his career in New Delhi (India), but where he spent more time was in the Middle East,
Beirut (Lebanon), Damascus (Syria) Baghdad (Iraq), were hot spots in his work, in which, thanks to his fluent Arabic that, together with his physique, served as a perfect camouflage. He did missions for his country, in France, Morocco, Sudan and other countries. Being considered one of the best field agents. He was investigated by the FBI of his country,
accused of hatching a plot, to end the life of Saddam Hussein the Iraqi
president, although the charges were dropped, this displeasure led him first to
criticize his bosses who directed the operations from their offices and never
set foot on the field of action, finally disenchanted, he left the Agency, despite the fact that, to
compensate him for the bad drink, he was awarded the CIA's Medal of Merit for
Intelligence.
Once he left the professional activity at the
Agency, he began to carry out geopolitical analysis for different television
channels, at the same time he made literary works such as the aforementioned See
No Devil or Sleeping with the Devil , works that served as the basis
for the script of the film Syriana directed by Stephen Gaghan and whose main
role was played by the actor George Clooney giving life to Robert Baer in the
film. Both books are a daring interpretation that Robert makes about the world
of espionage.
