 VETERANOS EN EL DIFAS EN VIGO

El sábado treinta de mayo, tuvo lugar en la ciudad Olívica el desfile de las Fuerzas Armadas Españolas, con contó con la presencia de SSMM los Reyes

de España a los que acompañó la Princesa de Asturias, que este mismo año, acabará su formación militar habiendo pasado por las Academias de Tierra, Mar y Aire. Entre otras autoridades, estuvieron los ministros de Interior y Defensa, el presidente de la Xunta de Galicia y el alcalde de Vigo.  Miles de personas, se apostaron a ambos lados de la Avda. de Samil, por donde discurría el desfile, transmitiendo su calor a los soldados con sus vivas y aplausos, pese al sinsabor de que las

condiciones  climatológicas reinantes, impidieron el salto de los paracaidistas para portar la Enseña Nacional y el resto del desfile aéreo.

El acto comenzó con la llegada de SS MM, que fueron complementados por las autoridades, tras las veintiuna salvas de la Batería Real. Siguió el izado de la bandera, ante los acordes del Himno Nacional interpretado por la banda de la Guardia Real, acto que hubo que modificar, debido a no poder saltar los portadores, por la niebla baja que venía del mar. La argolla superior se rompió (hay que pensar que estas banderas pesan y agitadas por el viento generan presión en las argollas de sujeción) produciendo la caída en picado de esta.

Recibida la autorización para el comienzo del desfile, el general jefe de la BRILAT dio orden de marcha, precedido por las impresionantes motos HARLEY DAVISON de la Guardia Real, seguidos por el Staff de su Estado Mayor y en perfecta ejecución todas las demás fuerzas móviles y terrestres.

Un año más, desde hace no demasiado tiempo, la Real Hermandad de Veteranos de las Fuerzas Armadas y de la Guardia Civil, estuvo representada, por varias Delegaciones, bajo el mando del presidente de la Junta Nacional, el Almirante Santiago Bolívar Piñeiro.

Son pequeños pasos en tratar de igualar a otros ejércitos de Europa y del Mundo, pero que a nadie se le escape, que es un camino largo para recorrer, donde tenemos que mirarnos en el espejo de aquellos que nos aventajan de otros lugares. No me cansaré de repetir que, en los Estados Unidos, país de referencia, el día del Soldado Veterano, que se celebra el 11 de noviembre, día de San Martín de Tours, militar de los ejércitos romanos, que se convirtió en obispo de esa ciudad francesa, es considerado Festivo Nacional, con tanta relevancia que, si cae en domingo, se pasa el festivo al lunes y si cae en sábado, se adelanta al viernes.

Pero no cabe duda, que este pequeño salto de pulga es una pantalla protagonista en un evento militar, de aquellos que, en la mayoría de los casos, hemos estado sirviendo a la Patria, más de cuarenta años, dando en este servicio lo mejor de nuestra juventud. Ojalá prenda la llama de manera que se invierta la balanza inclinándose las incorporaciones a la Hermandad, del lado de aquellos que vistieron de uniforme, en lugar de ser como ahora, que se inclina por el número en la de los simpatizantes. Pero para ello, haría falta un cambio y éste no es fácil de lograr. En no pocos casos, se respira mucha más vocación en aquellos que sirvieron en algunas Unidades, sin haber sido profesionales, que los que lo hicieron como militares profesionales.

Pero todo esto depende de nosotros mismos, no podemos dejarnos arrastrar por el pesimismo, sino por la ilusión y las ganas de seguir viviendo una de las profesiones más apasionantes, para gritar alto y claro, el lema de la BRILAT en la que serví bastantes años: “Del pasado honor, del presente orgullo”  o como reza en nuestro himno: “Aunque no sea en las trincheras, deberemos aun luchar” No cabe resentimientos, sino agradecimientos, veamos con orgullo y satisfacción, las experiencias de vida, cursos, ejercicios, misiones, quedémonos con los valores aprendidos. No hay divisas en el uniforme de veterano, pero de uniforme o de paisano, todos sabemos quien es el que ostenta la función del mando.

 En los aplausos recibidos en el desfile, cuando anunciaron por megafonía nuestro paso, el publico no nos aplaudía a nosotros, sino lo que representábamos, cuando no había UME, siempre estábamos echando una mano los militares, ahora que la hay, la gente pide que en las desgracias, no solo se descargue en los especialistas de esa Unidad, porque saben que donde hay disciplina, hay orden, si hay que tirar de una manguera, el especialista dirige el chorro, pero los demás tiran de la goma, porque sino es así, se obligará a que lo haga el especialista también y el trabajo no es tan eficaz.

VETERANS AT DIFAS IN VIGO

On Saturday, May 30th, the parade of the Spanish Armed Forces took place in the olive city, with the presence of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain, who were accompanied by the Princess of Asturias, who this year will finish her military training having passed through the Land, Sea and Air Academies. Among other authorities, there were the ministers of Interior and D

efence, the president of the Xunta de Galicia and the mayor of Vigo.  Thousands of people were stationed on both sides of Avenida de Samil, where the parade was running, transmitting their warmth to the soldiers with their cheers and applause, despite the tastelessness of the inclement weather preventing the paratroopers from jumping to carry the National Flag and the rest of the air parade.

The act began with the arrival of SS MM, who were complemented by the authorities, after the twenty-one salutes of the Royal Battery. The raising of the flag followed, to the chords of the National Anthem played by the band of the Royal Guard, an act that had to be modified, due to the fact that the bearers could not jump, due to the low fog that came from the sea. The upper ring broke (it must be remembered that these flags are heavy and shaken by the wind generate pressure on the fastening rings) causing it to plummet.

Once the authorization for the start of the parade was received, the commanding general of the BRILAT gave the order to march, preceded by the impressive HARLEY DAVISON motorcycles of the Royal Guard, followed by the Staff of his General Staff and in perfect execution all the other mobile and land forces.

One more year, not too long ago, the Royal Brotherhood of Veterans of the Armed Forces and the Civil Guard, was represented, by several Delegations, under the command of the president of the National Board, Admiral Santiago Bolibar Piñeiro.

These are small steps in trying to match other armies in Europe and the world, but let no one miss it, which is a long way to go, where we have to look in the mirror of those who surpass us from other places. I will not tire of repeating that, in the United States, a country of reference, the day of the Veteran Soldier, which is celebrated on November 11, the day of Saint Martin of Tours, a soldier of the Roman armies, who became bishop of that French city, is considered a National Holiday, with such relevance that, if it falls on a Sunday,  the holiday is moved to Monday and if it falls on a Saturday, it is brought forward to Friday.

But there is no doubt that this small flea leap is a protagonist screen in a military event, of those who, in most cases, have been serving the Homeland, more than forty years, giving in this service the best of our youth. Hopefully it will light the flame in such a way that the balance is reversed by leaning the incorporations to the Brotherhood, on the side of those who wore uniforms, instead of being like now, which leans towards the number in that of the sympathizers. But for this, a change would be needed and this is not easy to achieve. In many cases, there is much more vocation in those who served in some Units, without having been professionals, than those who did so as professional soldiers.

But all this depends on ourselves, we cannot let ourselves be carried away by pessimism, but by the illusion and the desire to continue living one of the most exciting professions, to shout loud and clear, the motto of the BRILAT in which I served for many years: "From the past honor, from the present pride" or as it says in our anthem:  "Even if it is not in the trenches, we will still have to fight" There is no room for resentment, but gratitude, let's look with pride and satisfaction, the life experiences, courses, exercises, missions, let's keep the values learned. There are no badges on the veteran's uniform, but in uniform or in civilian clothes, we all know who is the one who holds the function of command.

 In the applause received in the parade, when they announced our passage over the loudspeaker, the public did not applaud us, but what we represented, when there was no UME, we were always lending a hand, now that there is, people ask that in misfortunes, not only the specialists of that Unit be unloaded,  Because they know that where there is discipline, there is order, if a hose has to be pulled, the specialist directs the jet, but the others pull the rubber, because if not, the specialist will be forced to do it too and the work is not so effective.
