WHEN SHE
WAS LOOKING FOR INSPIRATION, THE MUSE LEFT
Marcelo really
wanted to write, he appealed to his muse, to inspire him, he already had
everything, or so he thought, the plot, protagonists, their names, their
location...
He began to type
in front of the screen of his old computer:
My story begins
in a bus station, I hesitate and wondered or was it in a train station? He
tried to remember, but ended up leaving it like that, after all, it didn't
matter. What was really important was that it was a boy, who wanted to leave
the village to seek a more promising world.
German, such was
the name of the young man, he had braved the uncertainty of facing something
unknown, starting with the language, he had never studied English. But she
blindly trusted in the strength of her youth and the will to live, in her head
a phrase emerged, which she had heard from Scarlet O'Hara in the film, "Gone
with the Wind", she said: I call God as a witness, that I will not
go hungry again. He was not so presumptuous, because in reality, although
from a humble family, he had never gone hungry. It was not food hunger, but the
shortages that prevented him from achieving certain whims, like other children
of his time.
Days before
embarking on the adventure, he repeated the phrase to Don Arturo, the parish
priest of his village, who gently reproached him: - There is Germán, Germán,
that is to sin of arrogance, it is good that you try to improve in life, but
leave God alone, at most, ask him to help you live in peace.
He drew up a
life plan, he would dedicate some time to achieve stability, for this, he was
clear, that he would have to go through certain hardships, if he had to tighten
his belt everything was to make one more hole and that's it. His gym had to be
the field or the workshop, he was convinced that those who seek to have biceps
through a machine, had never given a damn about water, at least physically. I
would buy a phone, prepaid, for use of the most basic calls, I was clear that
the nonsense at the beginning would be fair.
He was convinced that if he did so, granite by granite he could fill the
barn.
At twenty-two
years old, he should not be fooled by Sirena's songs, if he had to sacrifice
himself, it would have to be at the beginning, he remembered when his friend
Pepe had gone to Germany. Pepe was a bit short, one summer, Manolo, a neighbor,
who was working with his parents in Hamburg, told him: Pepe, in Germany the
money, the money is even thrown in the streets. To tell him more, Pepe
convinced his parents and they paid for the train ticket. When he arrived he
left the Munich station, he saw a one-mark coin on the ground, he looked at it
and said to himself: Well, I'm not going to start bending my back anymore,
tomorrow I'll start working, that coin that someone else takes...
Marcelo remembered Pepe's anecdote, and went blank of how German's story was going, angry he closed the computer and waited for inspiration to return on a better occasion...
