El 61 Regimiento de Artillería del Ejército de Tierra francés, fue creado en el año 1910 y su guarnición se estableció en la ciudad de Verdún. Actualmente ocupa las instalaciones de una antigua Base Norteamericana, del Barrio d´Aboville, próxima a
Hoy día el Regimiento cuenta con tres Baterías de
drones alerta rápida C-1289 (Anafi y Black Hornet3); una Batería de Drones de Alerta
temprana SDTI (Patroller), y Explotación de imágenes (Helios y Musís) una
Batería de Suministro Logístico, una Batería de Mantenimiento, una Batería de
Plana Mayor Administrativa, una Batería de Apoyo de Armas. Cuenta con una
Unidad de Apoyo de Intervención en Reserva.
Fue destacado por sus virtudes en combate, tomando
parte en numerosas hechos de armas, incluido por supuesto la II Guerra Mundial.
Debido a ello, ha sido citado seis veces en la Orden del Ejército, dos en la de
Cuerpo de Ejército y una en la de División.
Entre sus acciones de combate más destacadas se
citan la de Saint Gond en 1914; Argonne 1915; Verdún 1916 y 1917, La Somme 1916
y Montdidier 1918.
Es el único Regimiento que
porta en su Estandarte, la Corbata de Honor de la Legión Extranjera Francesa.
Su sobrenombre “Des Diables
Noirs” (Los Diablos Negros), le fue impuesto por el Ejercito Alemán, no
solo por el uniforme de campaña de color negro, sino también por el coraje
demostrado por sus componentes en los hechos de campaña.
El distintivo de la unidad
está constituido por dos cañones cruzados, sobre los que se proyecta la cara
del diablo echando fuego por la boca, con un pequeño escudo central donde
figura el número de Regimiento y el de la Brigada de Artillería en la que se
encuentra encuadrado.

una Formación General Común, con independencia de su especialidad militar. Otra
Específica al rol que va a desempeñar en el Regimiento. Formación de Conducción

El Regimiento ha estado
desplegado en Kosovo desde diciembre de 2007 a agosto de 2008.
