 LA SERIES MUNDIALES DE TRIATHLON DE PONTEVEDRA, UN GRAN ESPECTÁCULO

Del 23 al 27 de septiembre, Pontevedra albergó por segundo año (la anterior fue en 2023) la Final de las Series de Triathlon, en la que colaboraron 400 voluntarios, personal de la Brigada de Infantería Ligera núm. 7 “BRILAT” y de la

Escuela Naval Militar y agentes de la Policía Local.

El miércoles veintitrés, tuvo lugar el desfile de los paises participantes, con sus banderas y divididos en orden alfabético por continentes. Donde la representación mas numerosa al menos en el desfile fue la de Canada, sin desdeñar por mucho de la de los Estados Unidos. Vistosa la de México, que no dudo en traer un buen grupo de mariachis que amenizaron su desfile al son de trompetas y guitarras.

Debido al gran número de participantes, cada continente tuvo un punto de salida diferente, aunque confluyendo en la Plaza de la Peregrina, para desfilar por la calle Michelena, toda ella engalanada con banderas de distintos países, hasta la Plaza de España, donde estaba colocado el palco de autoridades.

Terminado el desfile tuvieron lugar los discursos de la apertura del Campeonato y los juramentos de los representantes de jueces y atletas. En el plano deportivo, se celebraron pruebas de junior, franjas de edad, paratriathlon y élite, todas ellas masculinas y femeninas, así como pruebas de relevos mixtos.

En la categoría élite tuvo que recurrirse a la foto finish, pues el australiano Matthew Heiser y el portugués Vasco Vilaça entraron tan igualados que se les dio el mismo tiempo 1.39:31, Matthew fue el ganador por adelantar el pecho, pero el campeón de las series fue el portugués, porque llevaba más puntos de las series celebradas en distintas ciudades, el tercero en el pódium fue Alex Yee de Gran Bretaña. En élite femenina la francesa Cassandre Beaugrand, se llevó el gato al agua por delante de las británicas Georgia Taylor-Brown y Kate Waugh.

Tras la entrega de trofeos a distintos ganadores de las pruebas celebradas y los discursos de clausura del Campeonato, el alcalde de Pontevedra entregó la bandera de esta Final al representante de Hamburgo (Alemania) donde tendrá lugar la correspondiente a las series del año 2027.

La guinda del pastel la puso la orquesta “Panorama City” con un raudal de música y sonido que puso colofón a una de las pruebas más vistosas celebradas en la ciudad del Lérez, donde se dieron cita más de cinco mil deportistas llegados de los cinco continentes del mundo, que elogiaron el acogimiento realizado por la ciudad y el gran trabajo realizado por organizadores y voluntarios del evento. Parabienes que también fueron reflejados por Delegados Internacionales de las Federaciones.

THE PONTEVEDRA WORLD TRIATHLON SERIES, A SPECTACLE

From September 23 to 27, Pontevedra hosted for the second year (the previous one was in 2023) the Final of the Triathlon Series, in which 400 volunteers,

personnel from the Light Infantry Brigade No. 7 "BRILAT" and the Naval Military School and Local Police officers collaborated.

On Wednesday the twenty-third, the parade of the participating countries took place, with their flags and divided in alphabetical order by continents. Where the most numerous representation at least in the parade was that of Canada, without disdaining by much that of the United States. Colorful that of Mexico, which did not hesitate to bring a good group of mariachis that enlivened its parade to the sound of trumpets and guitars.

Due to the large number of participants, each continent had a different starting point, although converging in the Plaza de la Peregrina, to parade along Michelena Street, all of it adorned with flags of different countries, to the Plaza de España, where the authorities' box was located.  After the parade, the speeches of the opening of the Championship and the oaths of the representatives of judges and athletes took place.

On the sports level, junior, age groups, paratriathlon and elite events were held, all of them male and female, as well as mixed relay events.

In the elite category they had to resort to the photo finish, as the Australian Matthew Heiser and the Portuguese Vasco Vilaça entered so evenly matched that they were given the same time 1.39:31, Matthew was the winner for advancing his chest, but the champion of the series was the Portuguese, because he had more points from the series held in different cities, the third on the podium was Alex Yee from Great Britain.

In the women's elite, France's Cassandre Beaugrand took the lead ahead of Britain's Georgia Taylor-Brown and Kate Waugh.

After the presentation of trophies to different winners of the tests held and the closing speeches of the Championship, the mayor of Pontevedra handed over the flag of this Final to the representative of Hamburg (Germany) where the one corresponding to the series of the year 2027 will take place.

The icing on the cake was put by the orchestra "Panorama City" with a torrent of music and sound that put the culmination of one of the most colorful tests held in the city of Lérez, where more than five thousand athletes from the five continents of the world gathered, who praised the welcome made by the city and the great work done by organizers and volunteers of the event. Congratulations that were also reflected by International Delegates of the Federations.
